I Didn’t Crack the Code — I Built One
From a young age, I knew I wanted to be in this industry.
I wanted to model.
I wanted to act.
But like most creatives, I thought there was a “right” way to do it.
At 16, I started modeling and got some opportunities around Pittsburgh.
That’s when I began learning how the industry worked.
Then at 19, I moved to New York City and signed with agents.
I did everything I was “supposed” to do.
I took classes
I got headshots
I was being submitted
I was booking some work
But it wasn’t taking off.
And I was exhausted.
I was working survival jobs just to get by…
trying to build a career in modeling and acting…
👉 and I still felt like I couldn’t crack the code.
Then something unexpected happened.
I got hired for a hosting job.
On the ride back, I overheard the producer talking about a short film he was making.
I told him I had submitted and asked if I could audition.
He looked at me and said:
“You’ve got the role.”
And something clicked.
👉 You have to be in the industry to work in the industry.
Up until that point, I had been trying to succeed in separate lanes.
Modeling. Acting. One path at a time.
But I realized:
👉 there were far more opportunities than I was allowing myself to see
I just wasn’t approaching my career like a business.
So I changed everything.
I made a list of:
every type of job I could do across modeling, acting, hosting, and producing
how much each one paid
how to actually access those opportunities
Then I built a plan.
And I followed it—consistently.
That’s how I stopped guessing.
That’s how I stopped relying on one path.
That’s how I started working across multiple areas—and getting paid for it.
Now, I’ve been working full-time in the industry for over 10 years.
